Sierra Leone is roughly at Stage 2 of the Demographic Transition Model. They have a high birth rate of 37 and a decreasing death rate of 10. This causes their rate of natural increase to be very high at 26%. It can also be seen that Sierra Leone is in stage two due to the shape of their population pyramid. It is very distinctly a triangle with a large number of children and fewer adults. This is due to their lower life expectancy and higher fertility rates.
